At one, you will find a whole host of vendors & wedding service providers all of which will be doing their utmost to secure your business. So as you embark on your wedding planning process make sure you take not of the following advice when attending a bridal show. "american idol"
If possible, find out which vendors will be participating - knowing who will be there can help you set out a plan for the day & make sure you talk to those vendors that are of importance to you. Try to get a plan of the show as well, so you don’t wonder around aimlessly looking for those vendors of interest & wasting valuable time in the process.
Bridal shows are a fantastic resource for budding brides. If your planning on getting married soon, chances are you may have visited one or two already, but if you have never visited a bridal show before, here are some tips about what to expect & how to get the most from one.
Wear comfortable shoes & leave your coat in the car. Chances are you will come out of the show armed with a whole host of brochures, cards & other goodies. So take in so much stuff you have trouble carrying it all.
Bring someone with you! Take you mom, bridesmaid or even your fiance with your to help you with your information gathering. It is also a good way to include people in the wedding planning process who may otherwise have nothing to do.
Bring the following items: pen, notebook, date book, checkbook, credit card and a large tote bag to carry everything in. You maybe able to make bookings with vendors on the day of the show, & some may have special offers available to those that do. So take along your check book so that you can secure your booking with a deposit. If you are not sure they are the right vendor for you, ask if they will extend the offer for a certain period so you have time to consider it. If they say no, then they are probably not the right vendor for you & I would suggest you politely decline & leave. Making decisions on the spur of the moment is not always advisable.
Before you place that deposit, be 100% sure of what you are signing up to. Take time to read all the terms & conditions laid out in the contract & that you are happy with the level of service being provided. If it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is.
If you plan on attending the Fashion show portion of the show make sure you get there early. Seats are allocated on first come first serve basis & you will definitely want to guarantee a good seat!
If the fashion is of no interest to you, then it is a good time to visit the vendors you are interested in. The majority of the brides at the show are likely to be at the fashion show so this is a good, quiet time to talk to vendors & achieve your objects.
If you are provided with a "Bride" sticker, wear it! It is helpful to vendors if they know who they are talking to & can immediately identify you as the bride. You never know, you may even get some special treatment!
If you take part in any prize draws or competitions make sure you fill out your details clearly, you wouldn’t want to miss out on a stunning bouquet because they cannot read your handwriting!
If you take notes, write them on the literature given to you by the vendor, that way you know who it relates to & will make your wedding planning easier when you come to make phone calls to vendors.
You may have to purchase a ticket or pay an admittance fee on the door. Many bridal shows are advertised online & you may be able to buy your tickets in advance or pre-book your place.
Above all, enjoy the day. It is meant to be fun & remember you don’t have to finalize every detail there & then. Get as much information as you can, take advantage of any special offers & come back home filled with ideas.
On another note, it is likely that there will not be any refreshment facilities available at the show, so make sure you eat well before you go & take a bottle of water or other beverage with you. Bridal shows are thirsty work!
Bring address labels. As you wonder around collection details & other information, you will probably find yourself giving out your address & contact details over & over again.
Make things easier for yourself by printing out some address labels at home. Most of the vendors you talk to will contact you at some stage to give your details of a special offer or promotion, or simply to see how you are getting on.
If you don’t want to be contact in this way, then don’t give out your details, just be aware that you could miss out on a great deal. Alternatively, just ask them to contact you by email, that way you can review their offers etc in your own time & make an informed choice.
